The Villages
Our next stop in our pilgrimage was to visit Tim’s parents in The Villages. The best way to describe The Villages is that it’s like Disneyland for seniors. Golf carts are the preferred mode of transportation, everything you could possibly want is only moments away and golf courses pepper the landscape. It reminds me of the movie Meryl Streep starred in with Albert Brooks “Defending Your Life”.
Fashion wise the whole place got us thinking. Once women get to a certain age dressing for fashion can be challenging. A man’s style button down dress shirt is a great choice no matter what your age, pair it with slimming black pants and a high heel and you are set to conquer the world. Any woman that possesses wisdom and experience will tell you: seal the deal with fabulous jewelry, a great bag and chic sunglasses.

T.I.M. is BACK!!!
So we have finally settled in! We love our new neighborhood in Coral Gables and feel so inspired by our environment. The trip down was filled with fantastic imagery and women who really inspire T.I.M. Our first stop was in Savannah, GA to meet our muse and dear friend Maurene Green. We were captivated with the history and southern elegance of the city. While driving around downtown we spotted a fabulous red head crossing the street in a seafoam pleated skirt. She paired it with nude pumps, a brown short cropped leather jacket and classic black shades. We were very impressed as seafoam was a MAJAH color trend for the Spring 2012 runways. Looks like it might last another season as she was clearly Savannah’s best dressed. Stay tuned for more posts about our travels through American fashion.

Summer Summer Summertime

A friend recently asked me what she should wear for the summer. She was in desperate need for summer dresses and I said I would help. I looked around and this is what I came up with. I like solid simple colors right now like neutrals, black and white. Gold and nude accessories use the sun’s power to give the right amount of flash. Last but not lease, an interesting design detail such as a print down the middle or peek a boo lace completes the look. Happy Memorial Day!

Street Style

Everyone has those memories in life that they will never forget. One of my favorites is a few years back when I was on my way to work in NYC. Back then I used to take the subway from the Upper East Side to Union Square and walk 12 block to BONDST. I could have gotten off much closer to work but whenever I had the time I would relish walking that dozen blocks.

There was something about that stretch of the city. I wouldn’t walk on Broadway either, I’d take the seedier more lively Lafayette. I would crank up my IPod and for the next few songs I would be Naomi Campbell at Fashion Week. I didn’t care what anyone thought, I was loving life.

One day two Japanese people stopped me and as is customary in NYC I assumed they needed directions. Turns out they were scouts for a Japanese fashion magazine and they wanted to take my picture and break down my outfit. It was such a thrill and flattering that anyone would think I was worthy. I sourced out some similar but current options below.

Oh, Nanette!
I live for fashion and luckily enough for me I’ve known a few people in powerful places. One of my favorite memories is when Tim and I were invited to the Nanette Lepore show at NY Fashion Week. We were on top of the world and 13 mins later we were back on earth. Nanette dresses the working mom in my opinion sometimes sassy, sometimes worldly and most of the time just down to earth and chic. I adore this more punky version of Nanette with bold colors and a brave attitude, you can also try one of these two Nanette pieces that I adore.

Model Moment: Madison Hatch
A few days ago I had the pleasure of meeting Madison Hatch as the team at Blush prepped him for a photo shoot. Madison is an up and coming model, currently with Tout Models, about to hit NYC for a summer of castings and go sees. With his piercing green eyes and boyish good looks Madison recalls Danny Zuko with some Old Hollywood mixed in. With a classic jaw line, a head of hair I would kill for and a name meant for the marquee I think Madison is on a road to stardom.

I took a Fashion 5 with Madison to get to know him a bit better.

t.i.m.: What made you want to become a model?
MH: Honestly, I just bumped into the right people and received a large amount of support and encouragement from friends and family. After the initial dive into the industry I found myself really admiring the business and the models involved. I love people, so this industry is very intriguing to me.

t.i.m.: Who is your favorite model (male or female)?
MH: Edie Sedgwick

t.i.m.: What show would you kill to walk in?
MH: Diesel. I like how edgy they tend to be. They make a grungy look, look beautiful.

t.i.m.: You are going into a casting and need to look your best, how do you give yourself an instant makeover?
MH: Well, a good idea would be to wash the face. That’s key. But other than that, just make sure I have well fitted clothes on and my hair isn’t greasy. Overall a nice touch is to smell nice. So i’d say my instant makeover would be to wash my face, run the fingers through the mane a little, and spray some nice pheromones on.

t.i.m.: What your favorite piece in your closet right now?
MH: My favorite piece in my closet right now is my red Members Only jacket. I like simple clothing and simple styles. And I find myself craving the vintage look. So judging by the fact that my Members Only jacket covers all those categories, I’d have to go with that.

After talking to Madison I thought about how I would style him. So I pulled a few things based on his answers. I see him walking in the D&G or DSquared shows, NYC are you listening? Madison, we wish you the best of luck! You’ll be great, after all you already have a street named after you.
